Cat Allergy Symptoms - Nothing to Sneeze at

Whether this message finds you in the solstice of a bleak winter, or under the sweltering heat of an ever-shining sun, you will, in less than a year, find yourself faced with another spring. Time for a new beginning, a fresh new look at the world…and if your cat suffers from allergy symptoms, that awakening will be accompanied by cat sneezing, itching, swelling, and watery eyes. Spring might feel like a new awakening for you, but for your cat, his or her allergy symptoms and resulting sickness can make it a downright drag.

If your cat’s allergy symptoms are relatively mild, and are only presented in the springtime, a simple oral cat medicine (antihistamine) may be in order. But, if he or she suffers year-round, more advanced, high-tech remedies might be beneficial…in preserving your cat from the ravages of an immune system reaction to mold, pollen, dust, etc.

For allergy-suffering cats, Dr. Omaboe suggests that a diagnosis be established through blood testing, holistic means, or skin testing. For the skin testing, small samples of the cat’s skin are subjected to various allergens in Cabinet Veterinaire International’s in-house laboratory. Reactions of each skin sample pinpoint the cat’s specific allergies, so that targeted treatment can be administered.

Homeopathic veterinary medicine, as well as more high-tech remedies, have proven to be beneficial in the relief of cats’ allergy problems. For instance, diet changes or medicated shampoo might be helpful for some patients. Remedies for more difficult cases include:

  • Immunotherapy, or the administering of an allergen in small, and increasingly larger, doses, builds an allergic cat’s immune system so that its reaction to that allergen is lessened.
  • Bioresonance, a high-tech, drug-free, therapy, operates on the idea that a cat’s healthy organs and functions ARE energy, in the form of normal oscillating rhythms. Foreign or unhealthy products within a cat’s body, including allergens, create pathological rhythms, holding the potential to de-synergize your cat’s healthy order. A bioresonance machine uses electrical currents to allow positive energy to dominate your cat’s system, overpowering the energy of allergens.

Dr. Omaboe uses conventional, alternative, and high-tech approaches to solve cats’ troublesome allergy and health problems.

Heartworms and Other Parasites Make a Comeback

As flowers and trees awake to a new spring dawn, so do the pests that plague our cats’ health. Ticks and fleas carry pathogens with the potential to compromise your cat’s good health. Likewise, a Swiss immigrant cat’s heartworm can be devastating to his or her health. And, all three can be transferred to you and your family. If you have discontinued preventative treatment for any of these parasites, you need to resume treatment.

Kitten Care Involves Pet Spay and Neuter Services

The birth of kittens is also common in the springtime. If those kittens have nowhere to go, they end up in shelters. Spaying and neutering of cats over the age of 6 months will prevent unnecessary kitten births and allow us to better care for cats in our homes and shelters. A spayed or neutered animal is also healthier, and less prone to certain cancers and other cat health problems.
